I'm a shoe-leather reporter from a rural town in the northernmost corner of New York. Right now, I'm a metro reporting intern for the Tampa Bay Times, based out of its main office in St. Petersburg, Fla.
I've written for that paper, the N.Y. Daily News, The Buffalo News and, elsewhere in upstate New York, the Glens Falls Post-Star and the Plattsburgh Press-Republican. For over two years, I served in management roles at the Campus Times, the student newspaper of the University of Rochester, from which I graduated in 2018 as a double major in English and political science.
While interning at the Press-Republican, I contributed to the paper's award-winning coverage of the 2015 Clinton Correctional Facility prison break, a local story turned national. I also spearheaded an state award–winning series on volunteer shortages in local EMS departments.
In 2016, as an intern at the Post-Star, I spent weeks working on two enterprise pieces: one about the rebirth of a subsidized housing project, which won a New York Associated Press award, the other about a classroom inside a state prison.
During the summer of 2017, I spent my days finding stories in Buffalo by combing through civil court records, along with filing daily local articles.
